- Canadian Food Guide
Canada's Food Guide is a diet planning tool produced by Health Canada. It also encourages 30 to 60 minutes of moderate physical activity daily for adults and at least 90 minutes a day for youth. - Canadian Physical Activity Guide
and Handbook
The physical equivalent to the Canadian Food Guide to Healthy Eating, these documents explain in easy language what healthy physical activity is, how to go about getting active and the positive consequences of physical activity. Believe it or not, to quote the Public Health Agency of Canada website, "physical inactivity is a serious risk factor for premature death, chronic disease and disability, a magnitude of risk comparable to that of smoking. Two-thirds of Canadians are inactive, a serious threat to their health and a burden on the public health care system." The good news is that dancing counts towards an active lifestyle.
